Business travel security
Preparation, secure transfers and clear procedures for professional travel.
Prepare before departure
Business travel combines appointments, transport and accommodation in a place that may be unfamiliar. Check current travel and security advice for the specific region and travel dates. Conditions can change, so a previous trip is not a sufficient guide to the next one.
Planning checklist
- Check entry requirements, necessary documents and secure copies stored separately from originals.
- Coordinate accommodation, verified transfers and sufficient time between appointments.
- Review insurance, medical facilities and travel medicine advice where appropriate.
- Agree contact persons, availability and procedures for delays.
- Review access permissions and protection for business laptops, phones and documents.
Stay aware at the destination
Use agreed transport arrangements and verify the driver and meeting point. Avoid unnecessary public sharing of travel plans. Discuss last-minute changes with your contact person. Follow local rules and keep emergency contacts accessible independently of your mobile phone.
When plans change
An alternative transfer, backup accommodation and clear contacts can help with disruptions. Medical or security emergencies require appropriate local assistance. A protection team can coordinate arrangements, but it does not replace emergency services or consular responsibilities.
When additional support may help
Specific threats, high public visibility or unusual requirements may justify an individual security plan with accompaniment. Scope and duration depend on the situation. Discuss health questions with qualified medical professionals; general travel advice is not a substitute for that consultation.
